Reuters-U.S. stocks slipped on Thursday led by falls in financial shares and following weak Chinese economic data but a late-day rebound in oil prices limited the day’s decline.

Financials, which have been under pressure following negative news on Deutsche Bank (DB.N) and Wells Fargo (WFC.N), were down ahead of quarterly results due Friday from Wells Fargo, JPMorgan Chase (JPM.N) and Citigroup (C.N). The S&P financial index .SPSY fell 1.1 percent.

Reviving concerns about the health of the world’s second-largest economy, data showed China’s exports fell 10 percent in September, far worse than markets had expected, while imports unexpectedly shrank.

Stocks pared losses late along with energy shares. Oil prices rebounded to end higher. A U.S. government report of larger-than-expected draws in diesel and gasoline helped prices rebound. The S&P energy index .SPNY ended down 0.7 percent.

“The catalyst, I think, to start getting some trades in (late) was oil prices stabilizing, and just the fact that short term we were oversold,” said Bucky Hellwig, senior vice president at BB&T Wealth Management in Birmingham, Alabama.

Uncertainty over the U.S. presidential race as the Nov. 8 vote looms and the chance for extra bank regulation could be adding to weight for financials, he said.

The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI was down 45.26 points, or 0.25 percent, to 18,098.94, the S&P 500 .SPX lost 6.63 points, or 0.31 percent, to 2,132.55 and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC dropped 25.69 points, or 0.49 percent, to 5,213.33.

The Dow recovered from an intraday low of 17,959.95.

BURSA MALAYSIA MARKET IDEAS FRIDAY (14/10/2016):

FBMKLCI STRONG SUPPORT LIKE NO OTHER

Dear All,

The FBMKLCI closed lower at -2.01 point or -0.12% to close at 1665.02.

FBMKLCI remain sideways and supported so well like no other country. At this moment, we totally no idea how long our market can support.

DJIA finally break 18000 at the moment, if closing low it’s a big red alert signal which will possible continue to fall towards 17400. It’s highly possible to see a downtrend before US election. Unless later DJIA able to close high, forming a hammer candle, then will remain sideway.

We been waiting the market to fall, at such we are ready to collect good stock if any oversold happen. Don’t have to rush !

Reuters-The S&P 500 and the Dow Jones industrial average indexes ended Wednesday’s session with small gains as expectations for timing on a rate hike were largely unchanged after U.S. Federal Reserve minutes and investors waited on earnings reports.

Several voting policymakers judged a rate hike would be warranted “relatively soon” if the U.S. economy continued to strengthen, according to minutes from the September policy meeting released Wednesday afternoon.

While keeping rates low has risks, the Fed decided it was more risky to raise rates when they are concerned we might be seeing a slowdown in economic growth, said Kate Warne, investment strategist at Edward Jones in St. Louis.

“Unfortunately, they also didn’t provide a lot of clarity,” Warne said.

Traders have priced in small odds of a rate increase next month as the meeting falls days ahead of the Nov. 8 U.S. presidential election. The odds were still in favor of a December move, but down to 66 percent from 71 percent the day before, according to CME Group’s FedWatch tool.

With little news from the Fed, investors will see what earnings look like before they buy more stocks, said Steve Massocca, Chief Investment Officer, Wedbush Equity Management LLC in San Francisco.

Overall, S&P 500 third-quarter earnings are currently expected to fall 0.7 percent, marking the fifth quarter of negative earnings in a row, according to Thomson Reuters data.

The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI rose 15.54 points, or 0.09 percent, to 18,144.2, the S&P 500 .SPX gained 2.45 points, or 0.11 percent, to 2,139.18 and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC dipped 7.77 points, or 0.15 percent, to 5,239.02.

BURSA MALAYSIA MARKET IDEAS THURSDAY (13/10/2016):

FBMKLCI LOCAL FUND STRONG SUPPORTING

Dear All,

The FBMKLCI closed lower at -1.69 point or -0.10% to close at 1667.03.

FBMKLCI remain sideways and very strong supported at this level, believed to be related to BUDGET 2017.

DJIA seem to be also strongly supported above 18000 this level. Most probably also due to next month election.

Since the market have been sideways for too long, investor and punter start to immune and we see average goreng on selected counter.

Although yesterday market remain gloomy, our FIFO picks like PRTASCO, TEKSENG catch rebound again make us laughing all the way to the bank.

Today we like to special highlight on KIANJOO, as it has finally bottom up with volume. Since CANONE have making big spike up, and CANONE owned KIANJOO 30%+. It mean that KIANJOO should do well as well.

Besides KIANJOO have been offered by Aspire Insight Sdn Bhd at price RM 3.30 before (reject cause want higher offer), which mean when KIANJOO trading anything below RM 3.0 already at huge discount, especially when latest quarter result August have show significant profit recover.

KIANJOO still busy in expanding it’s production capacity which we see mid to long term also full of opportunity in investing this company.

Refer : http://www.thestar.com.my/business/business-news/2016/04/21/kian-joo-may-consider-better-offer/

If there are much higher offer price surface by others company then will highly possible trigger “LIMIT UP”.

Reuters-Wall Street rose on Monday morning amid gains across most sectors, driven by oil prices, and as Democrat Hillary Clinton was widely seen as the winner of the second presidential debate.

A Clinton presidency would be more positive for the markets because her positions are more well known than those of her Republican rival Donald Trump, according to a Reuters poll.

A CNN/ORC snap poll of debate watchers found that 57 percent thought Clinton won the encounter, versus 34 percent for Trump.

Oil prices rose 2.8 percent and touched their one-year high as speculators raised bets that prices would gain on the back of an agreement among OPEC producers to rein in record output levels. [O/R]

“Investors will ponder the presidential debate and follow the events in the commodity markets, especially oil,” said Peter Cardillo, chief market economist at First Standard Financial in New York.

Investors are also bracing for the third-quarter earnings season, which unofficially kicks off on Tuesday when aluminum producer Alcoa (AA.N) reports.

“The markets seem to be looking for a repeat of last quarter, with most companies exceeding Street consensus but obviously on a scaled back earnings growth,” Cardillo said.

Earnings of S&P 500 companies are expected to drop 0.7 percent, according to Thomson Reuters data.

The dollar .DXY, which has been swinging between gains and losses for the past five trading days, was up 0.2 percent against a basket of major currencies. The pound GBP= fell again on Monday.

The U.S. bond market was closed for the Columbus Day holiday.

At 9:39 a.m. ET (1339 GMT), the Dow Jones Industrial Average .DJI was up 127.61 points, or 0.7 percent, at 18,368.1.

The S&P 500 .SPX was up 12.42 points, or 0.58 percent, at 2,166.16 and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC was up 34.29 points, or 0.65 percent, at 5,326.70.

Reuters-The International Monetary Fund said on Sunday it is still fully engaged in talks to join the Greek bailout program and has not yet decided on what role it will take.

The IMF’s comment came after two sources with direct knowledge of the Greek bailout talks told Reuters on Saturday that negotiations for the fund to commit financial resources to the program are making little headway and the IMF likely would accept a special advisory status with limited powers.

“We remain fully engaged, with the aim of reaching agreement on a program that the fund can support with a new arrangement, as requested by the authorities,” IMF spokesman Gerry Rice said in an emailed statement on Sunday. “In this regard a mission team will visit Athens soon.”

Poul Thomsen, the IMF’s European Department director, said on Friday an IMF team would visit Athens in about a week or two to discuss a new program.

The IMF has been holding out for more than a year over the terms under which it would participate in any new Greek bailout, arguing that the fiscal targets set in the European bailout are unrealistic without major debt relief for Greece.

The sources told Reuters the IMF is increasingly resigned to European resistance to further Greek debt relief and is now in talks to accept a newly created role that would keep it at the table and let it play a part with limited formality.

Dear Savvy Investors,

KLCI closed low at 1,665 while DJIA closed little lower at 18,240.
The rest of the market around us closed low except for CHINA A50 which closed a little higher.
Australian ASX 200, HONG KONG HSI, Indonesia IDX, Jappan Nikkei, Korea Kospi, Taiwan Weighted, German Dax and Singapore STI all closed lower, hence I am expecting a not-so-exciting market this Monday.

• Rubber priced have lowered by a lot, hence a lot of BIG Rubber producers like KLK and SIME have been lowering their production in conjunction with TRC agreement to reduce exports to ease the supply glut.
• Sugar price has increase hence it will be higher operating cost for related counters like cocoland (although they said it is manageable), Nestle will be slightly affected and other sugar counter such as APOLLO, F&N, OFI, Hupseng , Dlady. MSM will be badly impacted.
• Perisai might be causing a domino effect to all the Oil and Gas Counters which are in debt. Hence trade cautiously in Oil And Gas Counters, although the Oil price is rallying, however for companies to start making money in Oil And Gas Industries, the current price is still way below the breakeven price of $58. Also, I think that OPEC will come out with an announcement stating that Agreement has not been sign.

Friday 8/10/2016 market ideas:

1. A&M: This one really need to put in important watchlist.

Continuation of stocks in our Watchlist :
1. Kimlun (midterm): seems seller not much, much more to go. First mentioned 2.14, highest is 2.22 lowest is 2.14, cut loss is at 2.06.
2. OCNCASH (midterm / contra) both also can. As long as it stay above the 0.4 line, it will have chance to shoot up. Strongly supported at 0.41, hopefully it will go lower to enable for collection.
3. WCT: First mentioned at 1.64, highest 1.72, currently at 1.68 which is the support.
4. Pwf (20/9) mentioned at 0.74 and reached a higest of 0.79. currently is at 0.785. lock profit it closes below 0.77
5. Suncon: 28/9 was at 1.62 level reached a highest of 1.73. If you have these just continue to hold. Already bullish, any retracement can consider to increase position in Suncon. Will be Seeing some correction.

6. HEVEA: Congrats if you have this. I already sold 1/2 of my holdings in this counter. However since there are many more sifu, guru, leaders who just start to notice this , I guess I will continue to hold on to this counter. I will cut if it fall below 1.29 else my TP for this is 1.40.
7. TALIWRK (refer to 6/10) don’t see many sellers for this counter. It will climb higher. 1.5 is the support is a nice time to enter ( cut if fall below 1.47)
8. OWG : bullish signs appear, it is now at its support. OWG cut if below 2.24. still above support line.
9. SKPETRO and DIALOG to rally along with oil. Just monitor oil price and then that will decide for you to whether continue stay in this counter. DIALOG cut loss at 1.51, SKPetro cutloss 1.60.

Dear All,

The FBMKLCI closed lower at -1.35 point or -0.08% to close at 1665.38.

FBMKLCI last week very minimal moves, well supported but most of the stock not seem to be active and remain weak sentiment.

Despite the firmer oil prices, the FBMKLCI was down by 1.35pts or 0.08% last Friday as investors waited for the US jobs numbers for an indication on the potential hike in the US interest rate in the months ahead. This week, the local market sentiment might be positive due to the pre-budget rally. Moreover, the recent rebound probably signals that a triangle pattern may be taking form. If this is the case, prices may climb to test the 1,675-1,680 resistance zones in the near term. We would only turn bullish for the short term if the index can push above 1,692-1,700. Resistance: 1,675 & 1,692. Support: 1,645 & 1,620.

1. WCT: mainly playing on budget announcement. Today up up again. Cut if close below 1.68.
2. HEVEA: It is trading at its resistance of 1.27, which will determine whether it will break out or not. You can que lower , or you can buy at breakout 1.28. Cut loss if it goes below 1.24.
