Reuters-Wall Street advanced on Tuesday to give the S&P 500 its best day this month on the heels of solid earnings reports from names such as UnitedHealth and Netflix that put corporate profits on track to snap a four-quarter streak of declines.

Of the 52 S&P 500 companies that have reported results to date for the third quarter, 81 percent have reported earnings that topped average analyst estimates, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

Third-quarter earnings are now expected to show growth of 0.2 percent, which would mark an end to the U.S. profit recession that began in the third quarter of 2015.

If the quarter stays on track, it will be the first time since the fourth-quarter of 2014 in which both earnings and revenue of S&P 500 companies increased.

“We had some decent earnings results,” said Jack Ablin, chief investment officer at BMO Private Bank in Chicago.

“Given companies’ track record of beating expectations, investors believe this will be the first quarter in five where we have positive earnings growth.”

The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI rose 75.54 points, or 0.42 percent, to 18,161.94, the S&P 500 .SPX gained 13.1 points, or 0.62 percent, to 2,139.6 and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC added 44.01 points, or 0.85 percent, to 5,243.84.

Gains were broad, with each of the 11 major S&P sectors in positive territory, led by a 1.1 percent gain in healthcare .SPXHC, boosted by a UnitedHealth’s (UNH.N) 6.9 percent jump after quarterly results and forecast.

Reuters-Wall Street ended modestly lower on Monday as energy stocks retreated along with oil prices, while Amazon and Netflix weighed on the consumer discretionary sector.

Federal Reserve Vice Chairman Stanley Fischer warned that economic stability could be threatened by low interest rates and noted the central bank is “very close” to its employment and inflation targets, but said it was “not that simple” for the Fed to raise rates.

The comments from Fischer, a dove who has supported a rate hike, come as other Fed officials have recently said the current state of affairs may be about as good as it gets.

Conflicting statements on the timing of a rate hike from some Fed officials has been adding to uncertainty in markets, which have been grappling with changing dynamics in a tumultuous U.S. presidential election and nervousness regarding third-quarter earnings.

“Fischer’s stature is second only to Janet Yellen so when he speaks, people are going to pay closer attention to what he is saying,” said Art Hogan, chief market strategist at Wunderlich Securities in New York.

“To me, it is different slices of the same apple – we’ve got a Fed that desperately wants to raise rates one more time this year and that probably happens in December.”

Energy stocks .SPNY were 0.6 percent lower as U.S. oil prices CLc1 settled down 0.8 percent at $49.94 while Brent crude LCOc1 settled down 0.8 percent at $51.52 a barrel. Oil prices were weighed down by oversupply concerns, although losses were curbed amid a projected drop in American shale output.

The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI fell 51.98 points, or 0.29 percent, to 18,086.4, the S&P 500 .SPX lost 6.48 points, or 0.3 percent, to 2,126.5 and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC dropped 14.34 points, or 0.27 percent, to 5,199.82.

Dear All,

The FBMKLCI closed lower at -5.26 point or -0.32% to close at 1653.71.

FBMKLCI slowly trending down, not a good sign. Becareful of before or after budget water fall. But all the direction much depends on DJIA movement. If DJIA stay strong, our downside will be supported as well.

DJIA movement same slowly trending down. Just be careful and monitor any big waterfall candle. If suddenly drop 150-300 point, will be more panic selling happens.

Market is not very strong movement, however still got some stock moving. Some of the better FA export stock like EVERGRN, HEVEA, LIIHEN, SUPERLN remain strong.

We will be extra cautious at the moment because this month market are very volatile.

Last week KLCI closed lower at 1658.97. However this week we should see a rebound due to the BUDGET 2017.

Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 closed lower 5,377.03
China A50 closed higher at 5,377.03
Hong Kong HSI closed high at 23,233.31 after falling a lot. Should it break its resistance it will get back to its previous level, if not it will remain sideways at this level.
Indonesia’s IDX Composite was Bullish and closed at its resistance of 5,399.89
Japan Nikkei 225 closed high at 16,856
Korea Kospi was little bullish at 2022.66
Taiwan Weighted closed low at 9,165.
German Dax was bullish on the Friday and closed at 10,580 with a surplus of 1.6%

The Djia rebounded slightly, and closed 18,138.38.
The ringgit is still weak against USD and should rebound after Budget 2017 is announced. However Now we still can play on export stocks.

The fever of Megasteel closure has already subsided although we saw the steel theme was a little in play last Friday, however, I would suggest to take profit on steel counter, especially CSCSTEEL as I have heard that insiders and HE is already distributing his shares.

Fed Chair Yellen said that “an accommodative monetary stance, if maintained too long, could have costs that exceed the benefits” by increasing the risk of financial instability or undermining price stability. She added that there are “plausible ways” that running that U.S. economy hot could repair damage caused to growth trends by the recession.

Prelim-Oct University of Michigan U.S. consumer sentiment unexpectedly fell -3.3 to 87.9, weaker than expectations of +0.6 to 91.8 and the lowest in 13 months.

List of Companies that will benefit from weaker ringgit

Views – 235

Reuters-U.S. stocks slipped on Thursday led by falls in financial shares and following weak Chinese economic data but a late-day rebound in oil prices limited the day’s decline.

Financials, which have been under pressure following negative news on Deutsche Bank (DB.N) and Wells Fargo (WFC.N), were down ahead of quarterly results due Friday from Wells Fargo, JPMorgan Chase (JPM.N) and Citigroup (C.N). The S&P financial index .SPSY fell 1.1 percent.

Reviving concerns about the health of the world’s second-largest economy, data showed China’s exports fell 10 percent in September, far worse than markets had expected, while imports unexpectedly shrank.

Stocks pared losses late along with energy shares. Oil prices rebounded to end higher. A U.S. government report of larger-than-expected draws in diesel and gasoline helped prices rebound. The S&P energy index .SPNY ended down 0.7 percent.

“The catalyst, I think, to start getting some trades in (late) was oil prices stabilizing, and just the fact that short term we were oversold,” said Bucky Hellwig, senior vice president at BB&T Wealth Management in Birmingham, Alabama.

Uncertainty over the U.S. presidential race as the Nov. 8 vote looms and the chance for extra bank regulation could be adding to weight for financials, he said.

The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI was down 45.26 points, or 0.25 percent, to 18,098.94, the S&P 500 .SPX lost 6.63 points, or 0.31 percent, to 2,132.55 and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC dropped 25.69 points, or 0.49 percent, to 5,213.33.

The Dow recovered from an intraday low of 17,959.95.

Dear All,

The FBMKLCI closed lower at -2.01 point or -0.12% to close at 1665.02.

FBMKLCI remain sideways and supported so well like no other country. At this moment, we totally no idea how long our market can support.

DJIA finally break 18000 at the moment, if closing low it’s a big red alert signal which will possible continue to fall towards 17400. It’s highly possible to see a downtrend before US election. Unless later DJIA able to close high, forming a hammer candle, then will remain sideway.

We been waiting the market to fall, at such we are ready to collect good stock if any oversold happen. Don’t have to rush !

Reuters-The S&P 500 and the Dow Jones industrial average indexes ended Wednesday’s session with small gains as expectations for timing on a rate hike were largely unchanged after U.S. Federal Reserve minutes and investors waited on earnings reports.

Several voting policymakers judged a rate hike would be warranted “relatively soon” if the U.S. economy continued to strengthen, according to minutes from the September policy meeting released Wednesday afternoon.

While keeping rates low has risks, the Fed decided it was more risky to raise rates when they are concerned we might be seeing a slowdown in economic growth, said Kate Warne, investment strategist at Edward Jones in St. Louis.

“Unfortunately, they also didn’t provide a lot of clarity,” Warne said.

Traders have priced in small odds of a rate increase next month as the meeting falls days ahead of the Nov. 8 U.S. presidential election. The odds were still in favor of a December move, but down to 66 percent from 71 percent the day before, according to CME Group’s FedWatch tool.

With little news from the Fed, investors will see what earnings look like before they buy more stocks, said Steve Massocca, Chief Investment Officer, Wedbush Equity Management LLC in San Francisco.

Overall, S&P 500 third-quarter earnings are currently expected to fall 0.7 percent, marking the fifth quarter of negative earnings in a row, according to Thomson Reuters data.

The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI rose 15.54 points, or 0.09 percent, to 18,144.2, the S&P 500 .SPX gained 2.45 points, or 0.11 percent, to 2,139.18 and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC dipped 7.77 points, or 0.15 percent, to 5,239.02.

Dear All,

The FBMKLCI closed lower at -1.69 point or -0.10% to close at 1667.03.

FBMKLCI remain sideways and very strong supported at this level, believed to be related to BUDGET 2017.

DJIA seem to be also strongly supported above 18000 this level. Most probably also due to next month election.

Since the market have been sideways for too long, investor and punter start to immune and we see average goreng on selected counter.

Although yesterday market remain gloomy, our FIFO picks like PRTASCO, TEKSENG catch rebound again make us laughing all the way to the bank.

Today we like to special highlight on KIANJOO, as it has finally bottom up with volume. Since CANONE have making big spike up, and CANONE owned KIANJOO 30%+. It mean that KIANJOO should do well as well.

Besides KIANJOO have been offered by Aspire Insight Sdn Bhd at price RM 3.30 before (reject cause want higher offer), which mean when KIANJOO trading anything below RM 3.0 already at huge discount, especially when latest quarter result August have show significant profit recover.

KIANJOO still busy in expanding it’s production capacity which we see mid to long term also full of opportunity in investing this company.
